I am very fortunate to have an entire room to call my own, I decided to repaint
it in a girly pink color, accented with black. After researching different lighting options, I decided to use a color proofing system, mounted as track lighting. This lighting mimics natural daylight, with no glare and allows me to work at night with the ability to match colors and see the tiniest embellishments. I have it directly over my workspaces. My workspace is an L-shape along two walls; on one end I have a cabinet with slide out shelves. I keep my wizard and accessories on one, a portable printer and accessories on another and items I frequently use on the top shelve (dymo labeler, Click-it, various cutting tools, etc.) At the other end I have a 2-drawer file, I keep printer paper, labels ink cartridges, any thing related to using the computer/printer. Above my workspace, my husband installed slat board and shelving to organize the bulk of my supplies. I really wanted to utilize as much wall space as possible and this works best for me. I use the Cropper Hopper line for almost everything because all there products are archival safe and I like that the contents are somewhat visible without being sloppy. Plus I label EVERYTHING, I hate looking for stuff! One shelf is designated for photos, as I get them developed, they are divided into either individual and/or event. I tried doing it chronologically but that didn't work well for me. I have my card stock stored vertical -some is by manufacturer, most is by color/pattern. All my embellishments are kept in the embellishment organizer cases and labeled, ribbon is in one case, everything else that will fit goes in the other. I have a mini drawer for storing pens/markers, horizontally, one shelve is a holding area for new purchases that need to be labeled and stored. I keep my swap items in an archival safe box to get to when I need them, magazines are kept in a plain vertical holder, articles I want to keep for go in a 3-ring binder inside a clear sleeve (labeled, of course!) And I am way behind on that! I really downsized my computer workspace; I have my keyboard and monitor mounted on a shelf with the printers and everything else in the closet, out of sight. I'm still trying to get my husband to drill a hole near the baseboard to run the wires, so they will be out sight as well. I have a magnetic erasable calendar on the wall next to my computer to keep up with swap dates. I have another corkboard to hang that I keep anything from magazine articles to inspirational items my boys have a little table they bring in when they want to work on their things or just hang out with me. |
