Hello! My name is Krista (Van Winkle) Riley. I was born right here in beautiful Roswell, NM. I attended both elementary and middle school here. I attended the New Mexico Military Institute where I graduated from high school in May of 2003 and received my Associate’s Degree in Dec. of 2003. I then moved to Lubbock, Texas where I studied at Texas Tech University. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in 2007 in General Studies: Biology, Psychology, and English. I then returned back to school for a Post Bac, Grad Program in Elementary Education when I received my Teacher’s Certification in EC-4. It was during my time in undergraduate that I met my wonderful husband in 2005 and we later were married in 2008. During my schooling I traveled to Roswell to help my mom open our beautiful store in 2005. I continued to travel home during the breaks and weekends. When school began to take over, I unfortunately was unable to make the trips as frequently. I began to work in Lubbock where I worked for a Children’s Shelter as a Direct Caregiver, then moved back into the retail field. I started out at Petsmart in Lubbock as a part time cashier and moved quickly through the “ranks” and ended up as the Presentation Manger. I was with the company for almost 2 years before I embarked on a new adventure. I then worked for Justice! Just for Girls as their assistant Store Manager and was there for a year. I left Justice when I got a teaching job with Lubbock Independent School District as a 1st Grade Teacher. Life takes unfortunate turns sometimes and with the death of my father in 2009 and my Husband being injured in Afghanistan in 2009, I finished my year of teaching and our family moved back to Roswell in May of 2010. Life does have a great way of healing the heart, my husband and I welcomed our 1st child, Aedan, in January of 2010. Since the move back my mother, Dene, has completely turned the operational side of the store to myself and I have had a BLAST working down here! I really get to do ALL of the things that I love in one spot!! I get the opportunity to put my creativity to work and teach at the same time! So stop by the store to visit, shop, or even take a class! You can also follow us on Facebook or our blog. Hugs, Krista
